Tramadol extended-release tablets are only used by people who are expected to need medication to relieve pain around-the-clock for a long time. Tramadol is in a class of medications called opiate agonists. It works by changing the way the body senses pain.

How should this medicine be used?

Tramadol comes as a tablet and an extended-release (long-acting) tablet to take by mouth. The regular tablet is usually taken with or without food every 4-6 hours as needed.

The extended-release tablet should be taken once a day. Take the extended-release tablet at about the same time of day every day, and either always take it with food or always take it without food. Take tramadol exactly as directed. Do not take more medication as a single dose or take more doses per day than prescribed by your doctor. Taking more tramadol than prescribed by your doctor may cause serious side effects or death. Your doctor may start you on a low dose of tramadol and gradually increase the amount of medication you take, not more often than every 3 days if you are taking the regular tablets or every 5 days if you are taking the extended-release tablets. Swallow the extended-release tablets whole; do not split, chew, or crush them. Do not snort (inhale powder from crushed tablet) or inject the dissolved extended-release tablets. Taking this medication in a way that is not recommended may cause serious side effects or death.

      ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Patients Prescribed Tramadol Less Likely To Develop Dependency

Author: Michael Connelly

Most people live their lives taking their health for granted, as long as they are feeling no pain. But if they happen to suffer a physical injury, the first thing on their mind is finding a way to reduce the pain. Tramadol is one of the most widely used pain relief medicines available to patients who are in need of treatment for moderate to severe pain. It is an analgesic, or pain killer that works on the brain and nervous systems in somewhat mysterious ways. While it is classified as an opioid, it is very much unlike any other pain relief medicine in this classification such as morhine and codeine. It is not considered to be a controlled substance in the United States, which means that it can be obtained with a standard prescription from any medical doctor. Patients can even buy Tramadol at an online pharmacy via one of the many US licensed pharmacies on the Internet.

A German pharmaceutical company named Grunenthal GmbH invented Tramadol in their laboratory near the end of the 1970s. At that time they gave it the name Tramal. Since then they have sold the rights to a wide variety of companies around the world who have come up with a lot of different names. A company in Argentina markets it as Calmador. In Sweden a company sells it as Tradolan. In Isreal it is sold as Tramadex, and in South Korea this particular medicine can be purchased as Tandol. Ultram and Ultracet are other names for this prescription drug in the United States. Today there are over 55 different brand names for Tramadol worldwide.

There is releatively little negative health related press attached to Tramadol as a prescription medicine, mostly because it is not abused recreationally as much as some other opioids. The reported negative side effects of Tramadoll abuse are nausea, abnormal sweating, vomiting, constipation and seizures. These side effects can create a very unpleasant experience if this drug is abused, which puts it low on the lists of prescription drugs for experimental drug users.

Tramadol is available by a prescription from US licensed physicians and legal to be purchased online at US licensed pharmacies or at any pharmacy. This is due to the fact that this synthetic agent is less likely to cause a dependency if used for an extended period of time. This is an important factor when doctors consider the long term health of their patients who take a prescribed medicine for pain.

Unlike other prescription drugs in its class, Tramadol has a relatively mild effect on the mu opioid receptor. This is a nerve receptor that is located in the periaqueductal grey area of the brain, otherwise known as the midbrain grey matter area. It is responsible for what is called the Gate Control Theory of pain relief. Opioids such as morphine and vicodin bind very easily to it and inhibit the pathway of the neurons that are being sent to the brain to register pain. The Gate Control Theory is the basis of most modern analgesics and it has revolutionized the way pain can be managed.

This affinity to the mu opioid receptor can also be responsible for the creation of a dependency to the opioid drug that is being used. However, Tramadol has a weaker affinity to this receptor than the other opioids in its class, which means that addiction is less likely to occur. Thus, the health of the patient is compromised less by taking this particular medicine to reduce their pain.

Tramadol can be taken in many different forms including orally in a pill or tablet form, rectally with suppositories, injected and with an IV in hospitals. The dosages range from 50 to 400 milligrams per day, which is determined by the attending physician.

While it is true that the mild agonism of the mu opioid receptor is partially responsible for the effectiveness of Tramadol in treating pain, doctors and scientists are not quite sure about the other details of why Tramadol works. They know that it is something to do with the effect it has on the noradrenergic and serotonergic systems in the human body.

The serotonergic system involves the neurotransmitter known as serotonin which is responsible for many different functions in the human body. Among its many duties serotonin is in charge of the regulation of various moods such as anger, as well as the regulation of sleeping patterns and appetite. It is created in the intestines by the amino acid tryptophan.

The noradrenergic system is responsible for such things as the fight or flight response we get when we are placed in a very stressful and dangerous situation. When a situation like this happens, norepinephrine which is also know as noradrenaline is sent to the part of the brain that controls attention and response processing. This hormone and neurotransmitter comes from a gland located in a part of the brain stem called the locus ceruleous. A neurotransmitter system is activated that sends neurons instantly along the spinal cord and distributes them to all parts of the body through millions of nerve pathways.

When norepinephrine is triggered the subjects heart rate increases, glucose is released into the bloodstream from stored up energy and all the muscles of the skeletin experience an increase in blood flow. The subject also experiences increased alertness and arousal. Studies have shown that the effect Tramadol has on the noradrenergic system may also have something to do with the decreased risk of developing a dependency, although the reason why is still not known.

Treating and controlling pain has come a long way in the past 100 years. The discovery of opioid based prescription drugs like morhine, codeine and vicodin have revolutionized pain treatment and brought relief to millions around the world who suffer from moderate to severe pain. However, there has been a negative health side effect from this benefit and it is the creation of dependencies on these drugs for millions of patients who took their prescribed pain medicine for extended periods of time.

Tramadol is a synthetic opioid medicine and it may be in the same class as the natural opiate based prescription drugs morphine and vicodin, but it has two very big differences from these two medicines. For one, it is not considered to be a controlled substance in the United States. This means that US licensed physicians can prescribe this analgesic to patients who can buy it at any pharmacy or online pharmacy that happens to be one of the many US licensed pharmacies on the Internet.

But the biggest thing that makes Tramadol different than other prescription drug opioids is that it can alleviate pain with a much lower chance of causing an addiction to the drug. This is very important when you consider the long term health of people who take pain medicine for extended periods of time.

Chronic Pain

Chronic pain is defined as pain that lasts longer than 3 months. Neck pain can result from disorders of any of the structures in the neck, including the cervical vertebrae.

What causes neck pain?

Many things can trigger neck pain. These include:

- Trauma or injury (damage to the muscles, tendons, and/or ligaments)
- Herniated cervical disk
- Worry and stress
- Tumors
- Falling and sleep in an awkward position
- Prolonged use of a computer keyboard
You feel as though your head is much heavier than it ever has been before

What can you do yourself?

- Stay as active as possible. Try to go to work and keep up your normal everyday activities - bed rest is not necessary. If you are given a neck-collar, try not to use this for more than one or two days.

- Remember that neck pain is rarely caused by a serious illness and will often disappear within a week.

- If you have had pains in the neck for a longer period, it is a good idea to consult your doctor or a physical therapist such as a chiropractor or physiotherapist.

- Sit in a neutral position looking straight ahead.

- Slowly tilt your head one inch to the right, and to the left

- Stretch your neck downward, moving your chin toward your chest. Hold for 10 seconds.

- In order to go about neck pain relief you should apply heat, ice to the sore area for 10-15 minutes every few hours. This will decrease inflammation and cramping.

- Massage the area gently.

- Take anti-inflammatory medications.

Tips for preventing neck pain :

- Take frequent breaks for a few seconds every hour from what you are doing to change position. Stretch and move stiff areas of your neck and shoulders.

- Keep heavy loads and things you lift close to you while lifting them.

- Lift with your legs instead of your back.

- Avoid reaching overhead with your arms and too far from your body.

- Avoid moving your neck up or down a lot.

Are you sitting comfortably?

1. Eyes should be level with the top of your computer screen or document holder, so that you are looking down slightly. Always look at your desk square-on.
2. Arms should be relaxed, with no tension in the wrists. The secret here is to chill. Don’t grip that mouse too tightly, and don’t stretch to reach it.
3. Sitting at your desk, your spine should be in a slight S-shaped curve. Adjust your chair so that the backrest fits into the lower, or small, of the back.
4. Avoid crossing your legs. It is a synthetic agent, and appears to have actions on the ?-opioid receptor as well as the noradrenergic and serotonergic systems. Tramadol was developed by the German pharmaceutical company Grünenthal GmbH in the late 1970s and marketed under the trade name Tramal. Grünenthal has also cross licensed the drug to many other pharmaceutical companies that market it under various names.

Specifically, tramadol comes in capsules, tablets, extended-release tablets, low-residue and/or uncoated tablets which can be taken by the sublingual and buccal routes, suppositories, effervescent tablets and powders, ampoules of sterile solution for SC, IM, and IV injection, powders for compounding, liquid for oral and sublingual administration -- in regular phials and bottles, dropper bottles, bottles with a pump similar to those used with liquid soap and phials with droppers built into the cap - as well as tablets and capsules containing paracetamol and aspirin.

Tramadol has a characteristic taste which is mildly bitter but much less so than morphine and codeine. Oral and sublingual drops and liquid preparations come with and without added flavouring. Its relative effectivness via transmucousal routes (sublingual, buccal, rectal) is around that of codeine and like codeine it is also metabolised in the liver to stronger metabolites (see below).

Doses range from 50-400 mg daily, maximum dose of 400 mg a day (webmed), with up to 600 mg daily when given IV/IM. The formulation containing APAP contains 37.5 mg of tramadol and 325 mg of paracetamol, intended for oral administration with a common dosing recommendation of one or two tabs every four to six hours.

Tramadol can be boosted in its analgesic effect with carisoprodol and meprobamate, benzodiazepines, and most antihistamines, especially promethazine, hydroxyzine, and orphenadrine.

Unlike most other opioids, Tramadol is not considered a controlled substance in many countries (the US and Australia, among others), and is available with a normal prescription. Tramadol is available over the counter without prescription in a few countries.[4] Sweden has as of May 2008 chosen to classify Tramadol as a controlled substance in the same way as codeine and dextropropoxyphene. This means that the substance is a scheduled drug. But unlike codeine and dextropropoxyphene, a normal prescription can be used at this time.[2] Tramadol is sometimes mistakenly classified as a non-opioid analgesic, because its abuse liability is lower than that of other opioids and because it has multiple mechanisms of action (including, but not limited to mu-opioid activity).

Tramadol is usually marketed as the hydrochloride salt (tramadol hydrochloride) and is available in both injectable (intravenous and/or intramuscular) and oral preparations. It is also available in conjunction with paracetamol (acetaminophen).

Source: www.articlesbase.com

Tramadol Takes on Arthritis

By: John Scott

Arthritis, at its core is simply an inflammation of the joints. However, there are a lot of diseases associated with arthritis; such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. They range from mildly painful to intensely painful. For some of the mild cases simply taking a few aspirin gives enough comfort. But more intense cases require stronger medication. That's where Tramadol stands out in the crowd.

Everyone has, at some time in their life, had a doctor ask them to rate their pain on a scale of 1 to 10. Pain is such an individual experience that it's difficult for an outsider, who is not experiencing it, to really understand how bad it is. Not only does it vary in intensity, it can have a wide range of sensations as well. One person might have sharp pains while another could be having a dull ache. Worse, are the cases of the intense, persistent, throbbing pain. That's the kind of pain that Tramadol attacks.

It's important for sufferers to be able to accurately describe their pain. The more accurate they can be, the better. There is often more than one doctor involved in a patient's care. A family practitioner may refer the patient to a specialists. The specialist may ask a collegue's opinion. There are any number of reasons to be sure your description of the pain you're feeling is accurate.

The treatment of arthritis is not as simple as taking one form of treatment and following that one form. Several factors play into arthritis and several factors need to be addressed when treating it.

Diet is one of those factors. Weight loss can have a healing effect on arthritic conditions. It reduces stress on the joints and takes some of that wearing pressure off. However, diet can have more of an impact if the arthritis sufferer goes beyond just trying to lose weight. Eating a lot of marine oils from cold-water fish have proven to reduce inflammation in many joint conditions. Diets high in fish such as salmon, mackerel, and tuna can have a big impact on arthritis.

Exercise is another important factor in treating arthritis. Unlike joint injuries which need to be immobilized, joint diseases get a lot of benefit from keeping mobile, active, and limber. There are numerous activities that are great for people suffering from arthritis. Among them are stretching, walking, and swimming. In addition, physical therapists will introduce patients to a variety of range-of-motion exercises. All this exercise keeps the joints active and protects against them freezing up.

The third treatment is to control the pain. Losing mobility in your joints due to arthritis can be very frustrating, but the pain that accompanies it can be downright agonizing. Sometimes a simple anti-inflammatory will do the trick, but for bigger arthritis pain you need something powerful. That's why many doctors turn to Tramadol to help their patients cope with the intense pain associated with arthritis.

While there is no cure for arthritis, the combination of these factors allows people with arthritis to live a relatively normal life, taking part in activities they've enjoyed all their lives.

Source: http://www.articlesnatch.com

Tramadol (ultram) and Gelonida - Potent Painkillers

Author: Vlad Kott

Copyright (c) 2008 Vlad Kott

Tramadol (Ultram) is prescribed to relieve moderate to moderately severe pain, to treat pain caused by surgery and chronic conditions such as cancer or joint pain. It works by decreasing the body's sense of pain.

Gelonida is a narcotic analgesic used to treat or prevent moderate to severe pain.

* Most important fact about Tramadol (Ultram)

You should not drive a car, operate machinery, or perform any other potentially hazardous activities until you know how Tramadol Ultram affects you.

It's important to take Tramadol exactly as prescribed. Do not increase the dosage or length of time you take Ultram without your doctor's approval.

Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, tell your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Ultram.

Side effects may include:

Agitation, anxiety, bloating and gas, constipation, convulsive movements, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, feeling of elation, hallucinations, headache, indigestion, itching, nausea, nervousness, sweating, tremor, vomiting, weakness.

Avoid Tramadol Ultram if it has ever given you an allergic reaction. Also avoid Tramadol Ultram after taking large doses of sleeping pills such as Halcion, Dalmane, and Restoril; narcotic pain relievers such as Demerol, morphine, Darvon, and Percocet; or psychotherapeutic drugs such as antidepressants and tranquilizers. But with this great convenience comes certain risks of possible catastrophe and disaster. So how does one avoid these risks, yet keep the benefits associated with online pharmacies?

Quality Of Online Tramadol Medication

Since many online pharmacies are foreign-based, there are some conflicting levels of standards implemented in production environment and value. The FDA, for instance, generally holds a high standard on how drugs are produced, developed, and manufactured. The same drug in a third world country, however, may have far less standards in comparison.

As far as quality goes, the resulting product may be of lesser quality. As Tramadol is used as a pain killer, this could be a poor show for buyers. But buying from a reputable foreign online source can help remedy this possible catastrophe.

Risks of Gaming With Tramadol Prescriptions

Another popular fad among some online pharmacies is gaming customers. Since the laws in foreign countries are different, it is almost next to impossible to actually take a person to court over a trivial drug problem and still turn a profit from the ordeal. For this reason, it is recommended that consumers make sure that an online pharmacy is legit and has been running for a couple of years before buying from them.

Some other online pharmacies may also steal financial information from customers, and not be a real pharmacy at all. In this case, the best defense is to verify a pharmacy via various means. The best test to verify a successful and dependable online pharmacy is to check their contact details. If they have a real address and phone number, this is usually an indicator that they are legit (although exceptions are always present).

Possible Legal Issues With Buying Tramadol Online

The Food and Drug Administration, or FDA, claims that it is illegal for United States citizens to buy Tramadol without a prescription. To get around this, customers must obtain a prescription from an online pharmacy. This usually involves having a phone or email interview with an actual pharmacist, in which case the customer will receive the medication up successful conferencing.

But some online pharmacies employ surveys or use pharmacists that are not properly licensed. If this is the case, buyers may be in legal trouble as technically they are buying prescription medication without a real prescription. Customers can get around this catastrophe the same way they can bypass the rest of the problems- ask around and see which online pharmacy is the most dependable. Also do Internet searches to see which online pharmacy has the best reputation, yet still offers the best prices and shipping methods.

Final Thoughts on Risks Associated with Buying Tramadol Online

Tramadol prescriptions are truly a blessing when they can be bought online and delivered to your doorstep the next day via FedEx Next Day shipping. Customers will often find that the savings found in buying online can be seen as a Free Prescription since it is in fact so easy to obtain and costs less money in doing so.

But as stated earlier, it can't be stressed enough that Tramadol should be taken with care and only with a prescription. Be sure to verify an online pharmacy's reputation before buying from them. And if all else fails, there is always the doctor's office visit!
Link: Link: http://www.isnare.com

Resources For Tramadol Users To Get Prescription Medication

By: Daniel Millions

Tramadol is a successful drug used to treat mild to severe pain. It functions much like codeine or morphine would. In comparison to morphine, it is around one tenth as potent. It also has less to no dependency risks- making Tramadol a wise choice in pain medication. But where can Tramadol users get the drug, exactly?

Getting Tramadol The Old-Fashioned Way

If you haven't been blessed with Internet access (and our condolences if you aren't), you are more than likely going to be making a visit to the pharmacist. This will require fuel to drive there, extra costs that go to pharmacy services, and of course the inconvenience of leaving one's own home is present.

But the old-fashioned way isn't the only option, even if one doesn't have Internet access. Tramadol users can go online in public libraries to get recurring prescriptions and deliveries of the drug straight to their doorstep via FedEx Next Day. And if Internet access is available at your home- you don't even have to leave the house!

How To Get Tramadol Online

Tramadol requires a prescription, which means a doctor's approval is needed. Tramadol users have two choices: visit a real doctor to get the prescription and use it to get Tramadol online, or conference with an online pharmacist to get the prescription.

If a Tramadol user wishes to conference with an online pharmacist, all that is needed is an email account or even a telephone. This allows the pharmacist to ask relevant questions to make sure there will be no complications or unnecessary risks involved with taking Tramadol.

In a sense, online users are getting a Free Prescription. They do not have to pay a doctor for the actual physical and checkup that doctors perform. Instead, a simple phone call or online chat can cut the costs completely. This Free Prescription is a great benefit to those who aren't too keen on spending more money than they have to.

Special Scenarios For Offline Tramadol Users

If you don't have the Internet access needed for online pharmacies, there are still options to get the necessary prescription. As stated before, using a public library will allow a recurring billing and shipment to be enabled. The pharmacist can then call a cell phone or home phone at a certain time and date to make sure the prescription will go through.

Although many online pharmacies push email as the number one means of communication because of its lack of cost, most do offer the telephone conferencing option. This simplifies the process even more for Tramadol users, since return visits to the public library will be unnecessary. All that will be needed is a telephone and the number to the online pharmacy.

Final Thoughts On Resources For Tramadol Users

If you;re comfortable with spending unnecessary money on fuel, services, and fees- the old fashioned way may suit you. But for the technology savvy and thrifty individuals, which accounts for most of the population, online pharmacies are fast becoming a new precedent in prescription medication.

It is strongly recommended that Tramadol users take advantage of online pharmacies. As time goes on, the online pharmacy will eventually take over most of the pharmaceutical market. This will be a great gift to consumers who will enjoy the cheaper prices, convenience, and reliability that online pharmacies provide.
About the Author
Buy pain medications FedEx next day and free prescription Buy Tramadol online FedEx next day and free prescription

Published At: www.Isnare.com
Permanent Link: http://www.isnare.com/?aid=235926&ca=Medicines+and+Remedies

Dodge the Pain With Tramadol

Author: Jacob Miller

Pain can be traumatizing both emotionally and physically, preventing you from enjoying life at its fullest. Today, with fast lifestyles, ignorance of health and nutrition issues, and indiscriminate use of medicines and other "quick fixes", we have ended up being exposed to pain of different types. Internal pain, injuries, throbbing pain, burning pain, aching pain, and even stinging pain. Sometimes even pain subsequent to inadequate healing, post-surgery.

Pain has been often described as a very unpleasant experience from some kind of tissue damage experienced by our bodies. This could be actual tissue damage, or some kind of slowly developing, potential tissue damage. Living with a sensation of pain, irrespective of the severity, then becomes a lifestyle issue as it interferes with our sense of peace and well being, and the trauma of the pain, besides generating emotional stress, keeps us from carrying on with our day-to-day activities. Think of the number of times you had a headache or muscle ache, and you continued to work nevertheless, always wishing you were resting back home; or, having to refuse some special activities related to your work, as you did not feel up to it. You would then wish for something that could banish this pain at least for a decent length of time.

There are various categories of pain medications such as NSAID's (Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs), opiates (drugs based on the properties of opium alkaloids, that depress the central nervous system, to alleviate pain), and some which are a combination of the two. Aspirin, Ibuprofen etc are an example of the NSAID's while Vicodin, Demerol, Oxycontin, Morphine etc are examples of the latter.

While most NSAID's are available across the counter as OTC drugs, a prescription is required for the opiate drugs.

While NSAID's have side effects like abdominal bleeding, the opiates have the disadvantage that one is back to square one once the effect wears off, and one tends to demand these more and more often as pain increases. These could be habit forming. Denial of these drugs often leads to withdrawal symptoms, which are another problem altogether.

What one then looks for is something that will be a combination of the two, something that will be calming to our stomachs and not as volatile as the opiates.

Tramadol is such a drug of choice.

While not classified as a narcotic, Tramadol is nevertheless habit forming, because of its pain relieving properties. It is often advised for reducing pain, post surgery, so that the patient can get rest. The effects of Tramadol are similar to the effects of a narcotic. Because Tramadol avoids the abdominal bleeding problems associated with NSAID's and yet, is not classified as a narcotic, doctors have been pleased to prescribe it to patients with great results.

Since it is an opiate-based medication, what actually happens is that Tramadol also has an anti depressive effect. Consequently, patients not only feel relieved of pain, they feel happier, and there is a sense of well-being.

At such times, one must also remember that this means that if this medication is to be stopped, it should be done gradually, or the patient will essentially get withdrawal symptoms. There are also some side effects of Tramadol that one should be aware of.

You may feel dizzy, lightheaded, and nauseous. Occasionally, you may feel like vomiting. Tramadol tends to make you drowsy, and so you need to ensure that you do not drive or cycle, or operate machinery, till you are sure how the medicine is affecting you.

Tramadol may also interfere, if you are taking medications for things like hay fever, allergies, sedatives, seizures, muscle relaxants, tranquilizers etc, as all these medications, including Tramadol, work through what is called our Central Nervous system. So you need to inform your doctor about any medication that you may be already taking.

You can order Tramadol through the Online Drug Source, after studying the various offers at the various online pharmacies. Again, a prescription is required for this medication, and if you do not have one from your doctor, you may access the medical consultation section of this website.

Tramadol, if used wisely, and within correct dosage limits, can afford excellent pain relief for all kinds of chronic and acute pain. So long it is borne in mind that the stoppage cannot be sudden, and one should not develop a dependency on it.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/

Is Tramadol Safe?

Author: Hal Lewis

Tramadol is the generic version of Ultram which is a synthetic pain medication with properties that have been known to react similarly to that of morphine. Tramadol is an opiate; therefore it affects the opioid receptors in the brain which are responsible for pain management. Tramadol can be extremely safe if it is taken correctly, for short durations of time, and is monitored by a physician. Normally, Tramadol is prescribed for moderate to severe pain but Tramadol is not as strong as Vicodin or Oxycontins. Because Tramadol is an opiate antagonist its primary job is to alter the way that the body reacts to pain.

Tramadol, when prescribed can be written for immediate release or extended time release. Of course they are available in various milligrams too; normally the immediate release is dispensed as 50 mg and the time release are dispensed in 100 mg, 200 mg, and 300 mg. Usually the time release Tramadol is used for patients who require long term pain management. It is also very important to take Tramadol exactly as directed, which is to be swallowed whole. Chewing them, crushing or splitting them is not recommended and is not safe. Because Tramadol is a member of the opiate family it does have addictive properties and when taken over a long period of time it is quite common to acquire a resistance to it which might make you feel as if the Tramadol is no longer working. Do not increase the amount of Tramadol that you take without consulting your physician and do not just stop taking it either as you will likely experience some unpleasant side effects while in opiate withdrawal. The dose should be professionally decreased gradually.

Tramadol can further be considered safe as long as you are honest with your doctor about the current medications that you might be taking as some can have a detrimental effect when combined with Tramadol such as Carbamazepine, which is normally taken for the treatment of epilepsy or bi polar disorder. The Carbamazepine reduces the effect of the Tramadol. Quinidine which is used for specific heart diseases makes Tramadol about 50-60% stronger than when Tramadol is taken by itself. Taking Tramadol with
MAO (monoamine oxidase inhibitor) inhibitor or SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) can actually cause seizures and other serious side effects. Tramadol should never be used in combination with alcohol, narcotic drugs, anesthetics, tranquilizers, and sedatives. It should also not be taken by pregnant women or nursing mothers.

Of course there are certain side effects associated with taking Tramadol just as there is with any medication. When not mixed with any other drugs that can cause unpleasant side effects, Tramadol is safe to take however, the issue lays with its addictive properties. Many people have been known to literally become addicted over a period of time which can lead to craving stronger opiates. This is why it can not be stressed strongly enough that Tramadol must be taken only when monitored by a physician. Tramadol can be a very effective and safe pain reliever if is taken correctly and monitored so that a dependency does not occur.

Tags: Tramadol, Online Pharmacy, Phentermine, Online Pharmacies
Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com

Take Away the Pain With Tramadol

Author: Bill Johnson

We can experience pain as a result of a wide range of situations. Perhaps you can hardly get through the day as a result of the pain you suffer after an automobile accident, or maybe your arthritis is causing you unbearable pain. Whatever the reason, your pain can probably be eased with Tramadol, which is used to relieve pain that is moderate to moderately severe. End your pain with Tramadol!

A Terrific Trick

Tramadol is part of a group of medications known as opiate agonists, which are similar to narcotics. Tramadol is a prescription drug, and it can be found under the names of Ultram and Ultram ER. The drug works by altering the way the body senses pain.

Use As Prescribed

Taking Tramadol to relieve your pain is easy—simply follow the instructions of your doctor. Typically, Tramadol is taken every 4-6 hours as needed, and it can be taken either with or without food. Tramadol comes only in the tablet form.

In order to relieve your pain with Tramadol, it is important to take the tablets as directed. Instead of being chewed, crushed, or split, Tramadol tablets should be swallowed whole. Snorting or injecting Tramadol could result in death.

A Daily Dosage

Pain relief depends on taking a daily dosage of Tramadol. Your doctor will prescribe a dosage of Tramadol that is right for your circumstances. Usually, your physician will begin your medication period on a low dose of the drug, and will gradually increase your dosage.

Regardless of your dosage, it is important to follow your doctor’s instructions when taking Tramadol. Taking a larger dose, taking it more frequently, or taking it for a longer period of time could result in serious side effects or even death. Likewise, if you want to stop taking Tramadol, you should consult your doctor before gradually reducing the dosage.

Around The Clock Pain Relief

Do you need pain relief 24 hours a day? Well, the makers of Tramadol have a solution for you! Tramadol extended-release tablets are intended to begin relieving pain several hours after the tablets are first digested. These tablets are ideal for people who need pain relief overnight.

Don’t Do It Alone

Tramadol is an excellent choice for pain relief in a variety of situations. However, to stay safe, it is very important to consult your doctor every step of the way. Only with the guidance of your physician—in selecting a dosage and schedule that are right for you—will you be able to live a safe and pain-free life.

Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/

Tags: Jennifer Alinio

In the wake of growing concerns over the fatal effects of some pain relievers in the market, pain specialists continue developed recommendations for alternatives – as effective yet not as dangerous.

News on the rising deaths of patients using COX-2 inhibitors and traditional NSAIDS (Nonsteroidal Antiinflammatory Drugs) has prompted medical experts to recommend the ban or withdrawal of drugs with these ingredients from the market.

After discussing the safety data for both NSAIDs and the COX-2 inhibitors, the group endorsed an expanded role for weak opioids, which are more effective in moderate-to-severe pain than NSAIDs. At the same time these possess other significant advantages included titratability, reversibility and lack of prostaglandin-associated side effects.

The role of combinations of weak opioids and other analgesic agents - in particular, tramadol plus paracetamol - merits particular attention.

A group of international pain specialists considered that tramadol and tramadol combinations offered a useful advantage in that they were 'NSAID-sparing'. The drug could be used in combination with lower-than-usual doses of NSAIDs. Use of tramadol is recommended by medical societies.

The panel also recommended the proper utilization of weak opioids. Side-effects, they stressed, are a common reason given for non-compliance.

The panel agreed that a policy of 'go low, go slow' - starting with a low dose and increasing it gradually - should be used to achieve good analgesia without intolerable side-effects.

After thorough deliberations, the group concluded that it is very important to communicate clear guidance to physicians on appropriate prescribing of analgesics in this new climate of uncertainty regarding the continuing use of COX-2 inhibitors.

Way back in 2004, there was a move for the global withdrawal of rofecoxib (Vioxx), which and concerns regarding use of other COX-2 inhibitors. Rofecoxib is used to relieve pain, tenderness and stiffness caused by arthritis. It is in a class of COX-2 exhibitors.

This then raised concerns for the need of prompt and clear guidance to physicians regarding prescription of drugs with these compositions.

NSAIDS and Cox-2

There actually are two Cox enzymes, Cox 1 and Cox-2. Both enzymes produce prostaglandins that promote inflammation, pain, and fever. However, only Cox-1 produces prostaglandins that support platelets and protect the stomach.

NSAIDs block the Cox enzymes and reduce prostaglandins throughout the body. As a consequence, ongoing inflammation, pain, and fever are reduced.

Since the prostaglandins that protect the stomach and support the platelets and blood clotting also are reduced, NSAIDs can cause ulcers in the stomach and promote bleeding.

Buy Tramadol Online at DrugstoreTM.com, the online drug store that provides a wide range of services such as drug information, health care products and prescription medication online. For immediate relief from the pain we usually follow some medications like painkillers, meditation and exercises.

Though some painkillers may bring alternative side effects which are harmful to the general health, people go for this option frequently as this gives rapid solution. Tramadol is such a medication for reducing pain. Tramadol is an efficient analgesic whose mode of actions is quite identical to those of the narcotics.

Tramadol is the generic of an analgesic whose brand name ultram. I have chronic back pain and have been looking up different medications to talk to my doctor about and this seems like a viable option. But is it a known blood thinner like most of your usual aspirin's? I.e. Ibuprofen, Tylenol, etc...

A1: No its not a blood thinner. Tramadol should not be used by anyone who has a history of any type of seizure including febrile seizures as a child. It lowers the seizure threshold.

Tramadol doesn't get rid of all pain, it simply knocks the edge off pain so that a person can function. I take it for fibromyalgia.

A2: Correct, it's not a blood thinner. I wanted to add that Tylenol is not either. I noticed you had grouped it with aspirin so I wanted to clarify the differences. Aspirin is a blood thinner. It works the best at this out of all the over the counter medications, which is why Doctors prescribe it to thin the blood in order to prevent heart attacks. Ibuprofen thins the blood to a much lesser degree than aspirin. And tylenol, a non-aspirin type medication (it's not an anti-inflammatory like the others), does not thin the blood at all. Now Tramadol, (brand name Ultram), is not a salisylate at all like aspirin and ibuprofen. It will not thin the blood.

A3: Tramadol is not a pain killer that thins blood...then again neither is tylenol. Any kind of NSAID medication or medicine with aspirin are the ones you have to watch as far as making your blood thinner. Tylenol is fine and can be taken without blood thinning effects....so can Tramadol.

A4: Tramadol (Ultram) is not a blood thinner.
I have taken Ultram for about 2 years and my mother approx. 10 years. It is for moderate to severe skeleton pain. There is a time release version if 24 hour a day pain relief is needed.

Ultram can be addictive for some people.

I like Ultram because it works well, plus I take ibuprofen that keeps my pain in check 90 % of the time but when it does not, Ultram can be used between ibuprofen doses.
